PayWay Ethiopia closes a 6-figure grant from Li-Way payment to create jobs through digital payment

PayWay Ethiopia the digital payments solution provider just signed a funding agreement looking to be one of the implementing partners at the Li-Way program. LI-WAY is a 5-year program run through a consortium of partners comprising MercyCorps, Netherlands Development Organisation, SNV, Save the Children International., and TechnoServe.

The program contributes to a sustainable reduction in poverty levels, improving gender relations, and social stability across Addis Ababa. The program looks to improve the lives of 200,000 people from poverty, with 50% being women and 75% of the remainder being youth.

The consortium is looking for service providers in capacity-building and finance facilitators to implement the LI-Way program. PayWay Ethiopia will create an agency network that should facilitate the payment across Addis Ababa, creating jobs in the process. Other implementing partners are Awash Bank, SNV Li-Way, and iceaddis

Hilina Damte, the Managing Partner at PayWay Ethiopia as a way of expanding the operations by recruiting, training, and creating new agents while installing new payment systems across Ethiopia. At present, PayWay ET has 50 agents and intends to increase this number to 100.
