In adherence to the regulatory directives of the National Insurance Commission regarding the 10-year tenure limit for managing directors and executive directors in insurance companies, Leadway Assurance Company Limited has disclosed changes in its leadership.

Effective January 1, Mr. Gboyega Lesi assumes the role of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, succeeding the previous directors who surpassed the prescribed 10-year tenure. Concurrently, Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Amanwa has been appointed as the Executive Director of Technical and Operations. These appointments are contingent upon obtaining the requisite regulatory approval from NAICOM.

The company, in a statement, highlighted its commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance and compliance with regulatory guidelines. The Board expressed confidence in Mr. Gboyega Lesi’s leadership skills, cultivated through years of collaboration with Mr. Tunde Hassan-Odukale.

Founded by Dr. Hassan Odukale in 1970, Leadway Assurance commenced business operations a year later. Reflecting on the appointment of his successor, Hassan-Odukale expressed confidence in Gboyega Lesi’s leadership, citing his nearly three decades of industry expertise and experience. Lesi, a seasoned professional with a profound understanding of the insurance landscape, is deemed well-equipped to lead Leadway Assurance into its next phase of growth in the West African insurance market. The Board believes that Lesi’s strategic vision will contribute significantly to the company’s sustained success and growth.

The leadership transition is in line with Leadway Assurance’s dedication to navigating its strategic path under dynamic and experienced leadership, ensuring the company’s continued success and adherence to regulatory standards.
