Microsoft (MSFT) is preparing to demonstrate its new artificial intelligence technology, which is similar to ChatGPT, in its productivity apps like Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, The Verge reported Friday (February 10, 2023), citing unnamed sources familiar with the plans.
The development is coming amidst rising competition in artificial intelligence among global tech giants. To wave off threats, Google Alphabet also launched bard.
Unfortunately, Google’s Bard disappointed audience at an investors presentation, a development that resulted in a $100 billion loss in market capitalisation as shareholders become jittery.
The report said the company will unveil in the coming weeks how it plans to integrate OpenAI’s artificial intelligence technology in its Office software products and that an announcement on the matter is planned for March.
ChatGPT is the latest trending tech topic, kicking off 2023 with an AI-powered chatbot which answers general-purpose questions and requests.
In January 2023, Microsoft officially announced that it integrated ChatGPT into its Azure OpenAI Service, following its significant investment into OpenAI, the service’s parent company.
Opera to Add AI-Generated Content Services to Browser
Elsewhere, Opera, the Norwegian web browser developer, said Friday (February 10, 2023) it intends to add artificial intelligence-generated content services to its personal computer and mobile browsers.
The company said it will test a new “Shorten” button in the browser’s address bar that will be able to use AI to generate short summaries of any webpage or article, according to a release.
