Mastercard, National Bank of Egypt unveil country’s first USD corporate debit card

Mastercard has partnered with the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) to introduce Egypt’s first US dollar-denominated corporate debit card, a move aimed at simplifying cross-border transactions and supporting businesses engaged in international trade.

The new corporate payment solution is designed to help Egyptian businesses of all sizes manage global business payments more efficiently while expanding access to secure digital payment services.

According to the partners, the initiative supports efforts to strengthen Egypt’s digital payments ecosystem and provide businesses with payment solutions that facilitate participation in international markets.

Soha El Turky, deputy chief executive officer of the National Bank of Egypt, said the partnership would enable Egyptian companies to engage more effectively in global commerce while contributing to the continued development of the country’s digital financial infrastructure.

She noted that the launch reflects the bank’s commitment to providing innovative financial solutions that support business growth and improve access to cross-border payment services.

Mohamed Assem, Mastercard’s country manager for Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, said the collaboration aligns with the company’s vision of promoting inclusive and seamless global commerce.

“At Mastercard, we believe that inclusive, borderless commerce is the foundation of sustainable economic growth. Our collaboration with NBE reflects our shared commitment to equipping businesses with the tools they need to thrive in a digital-first economy. Through our secure global payments infrastructure, we are enabling businesses to trade with confidence and thrive beyond borders,” Assem said.

The US dollar corporate debit card will be available through National Bank of Egypt branches nationwide, providing businesses with broader access to international payment capabilities.

The launch comes as financial institutions across the region continue to invest in digital payment infrastructure, cross-border payment solutions and compliance technology to support growing international trade and evolving customer needs.

In December 2024, Mastercard collaborated with the Central Bank of Egypt and the Egyptian Banks Company to introduce Apple Pay in Egypt, further expanding the country’s digital payments landscape.

The introduction of the new corporate debit card highlights the growing role of payment innovation, financial technology and secure digital infrastructure in enabling businesses to navigate global markets while supporting regulatory compliance, financial security and more efficient cross-border transactions.
