SA mobile gaming publisher startup raises $6M Serie A to scale mobile gaming across Africa

Carry1st, a South Africa mobile gaming publisher platform has achieved a $6M Series A funding. The platform has enabled mobile gaming across the African market. The round was led by Konvoy Ventures and had participation from Raine Ventures, Riot Games, TTV Capital, and Akatsuki.

This round has driven its total funding to $9.5M since 2018. We earlier covered how Carry1st mobile gaming startup raised $2.5M in around led by CRE Venture Capital. With over 120 million downloads across its portfolio, Carry1st has signed various deals with partners such as Swedish Raketspel, New York’s Cosi Games, and Qene Games from Ethiopia.

The new round of funding will go into securing new partnerships with global gaming studios while looking to launch and scale its existing portfolio of games while expanding its product, growth, and engineering teams. As part of the deal, Konvoy Venture’s Jackson Vaughan will also join the company’s board as Managing Partner.

Carry1st is led by Cordel Robbin-Coker who is the CEO and co-founder, Tinotenda Mundangepfupfu, and Lucy Hoffman. The company offers full-stack publishing, distribution handling, user acquisition, localization, customer experience, marketing, and monetization.

The startup has even launched a fintech product Pay1st that consolidates well-adopted payment methods across 6 African countries allowing customers to pay in their preferred method.
