During the event, the Information Minister and National Orientation, Mallam Idris Mohammed Malagi, alongside the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, underscored the critical benefits of effective PR practices for Nigeria’s progress.

The Minister, represented by Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Onilu, unveiled a comprehensive five-point agenda aimed at revitalizing PR practices in the country. This agenda, themed “PR as a Critical Asset to Nigeria’s Economic and Reputation Renaissance,” focused on restoring trust, amplifying government narratives, reorienting national values, modernizing communication technology, and empowering the media.

Highlighting the importance of strategic communication in today’s fast-paced digital landscape, the Minister stressed the need for transparent communication to address challenges and articulate a compelling vision for Nigeria’s future.

Furthermore, Governor Olayemi Cardoso, represented by Uchenna Ogbona of Corporate Communication, emphasized PR’s pivotal role in economic resurgence and reputation management. He highlighted PR’s ability to shape public opinion, foster trust among stakeholders, and attract investments both domestically and internationally.

Acknowledging the transformative impact of strategic communication and stakeholder engagement, the CBN governor emphasized the need for a strategic, inclusive, and comprehensive approach to PR initiatives. He expressed optimism in Nigeria’s ability to overcome challenges and leverage PR instruments for significant accomplishments.

The Nigeria Public Relations Week serves as a platform for professionals in the field to exchange ideas, share best practices, and contribute to effective communication strategies. Through workshops, seminars, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, NPRW facilitates collaboration among PR practitioners, journalists, marketers, and other stakeholders to drive growth and development in Nigeria.
