In 2022, AI related searches reached a record high not just in Nigeria but globally. The most popular queries among Nigerians included “what is AI art”, “what is deep learning in artificial intelligence”, “how to become an AI engineer” and “when was artificial intelligence invented”, all of which saw a 5000% increase in searches in 2022 compared to 2021.

Other searches included “what is artificial intelligence all about” which saw a rise of 370%, “is artificial intelligence a course” with an increase of 260% and “what is artificial intelligence” with a 130% increase.

Google, which views AI as a means to tackle pressing global issues such as climate change, has put forth their approach towards using AI responsibly. This includes prioritizing the development of tools that are safe and serve the greater good.

Google is using AI to address security challenges, such as on Gmail, which blocks more than 99.9% of malware, phishing, and spam and protects over 1.5 billion inboxes with the help of AI. The company is committed to pursuing AI in a responsible and bold manner, with the aim of improving the lives of as many people as possible.
