In a bid to enhance its operational efficiency, the Federal Government has given the green light for a comprehensive restructuring of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), as announced by the agency on Monday in a statement signed by Dare Adekanmbi, the Special Adviser Media to the Executive Chairman of FIRS.

A major reorganization is on the horizon, with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, set to unveil the new structure during a two-day strategic management meeting in Abuja.

The objective of the meeting is to ensure that all directors are well-informed and aligned with the strategic direction of the agency. Adekanmbi mentioned that the retreat would also involve engagement with external stakeholders in government, professional bodies, and the organized private sector to discuss FIRS’s renewed and refocused strategy.

Themed “Reimagining Tax Administration for Equity and Economic Growth,” the retreat reflects FIRS’s commitment to transformation and its vision to become a more taxpayer-centric and efficient revenue-collecting agency, led by Chairman Zacch Adedeji.

Simultaneously, FIRS has disclosed ambitious plans to substantially increase its tax revenue collection by 57%, targeting an impressive N19.4 trillion. This initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s reforms aimed at bolstering government revenues to address the country’s infrastructure needs.
