Consumers Applaud Babatunde Irukera's Impactful Leadership at FCCPC

Following the removal of Mr. Babatunde Irukera from his position as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) by President Bola Tinubu on January 8, consumers have expressed their admiration for Irukera’s impactful leadership during his tenure.

While reacting to his dismissal, consumers took to various platforms to acknowledge the positive contributions made by Mr. Tunde Irukera, expressing gratitude for his dedicated service to the protection of consumer rights in the country.

One consumer, identified as @KatorTarkaa, praised Irukera, stating, “Kudos, Mr. Tunde Irukera! Your tenure at FCCPC was indeed impactful. Particularly thankful for your intervention in cases like mine with Airtel, where they unjustly took my N75. Your dedication made a difference. Best of luck in your future endeavors, sir.”

Olashile Abayomi-Wealth expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you, sir, for everything. We will never forget you. History will be kind to you, sir.”

Udeochu Philip acknowledged Irukera’s outstanding contribution, saying, “Well done, sir. You were phenomenal and added so much value, covering for Nigerian consumers. We appreciate you and wish you well wherever you find yourself serving humanity.”

Sulaiman Gafar-Blessing wrote, “You have written your name on a sand of time; history will be kind to you, and it will not forget you in a hurry. Thank you for your service, sir.”

Wale Adedayo expressed confidence in Irukera’s future, stating, “I believe a bigger assignment is coming. One of our greatest public servants in recent times.”

In response to his removal, Irukera shared his gratitude on social media, saying, “Grateful for the opportunity to have served the incredibly vibrant and loyal Nigerian citizens/consumers. They deserve a better deal. I leave behind a strong institutional advocate in the FCCPC and an outstanding team of soldiers who work there daily for the cause of fair markets.”

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Chief Executive to hand over to the next most senior officer in the agency pending the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.
