Absa Bank Kenya and Visa have collaborated to introduce the Visa Commercial Choice Programme, a bespoke corporate card solution designed specifically for members of the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA).

This innovative offering aims to provide KATA members with greater flexibility and improved cash flow management capabilities, tailored to the unique needs of the travel industry.

Through this partnership, travel agents will benefit from enhanced payment solutions for business-to-business (B2B) transactions, enabling more efficient working capital management, streamlined operations, and better supplier management.

Under the collaboration, Absa Bank will support travel agents in facilitating seamless payments in both Kenyan Shillings and US dollars. Additionally, agents can utilize the Visa Commercial Pay Virtual Card Platform to automate booking processes and access advanced tools for data management and reconciliation. Meanwhile, businesses will gain increased visibility and control over employee-initiated expenses and payments.

Moses Muthui, Consumer Banking Director at Absa Bank, expressed the significance of the collaboration, stating, “The partnership between Absa Bank Kenya, Visa, and the Kenya Association of Travel Agents represents a major milestone in our efforts to empower businesses and drive digital inclusion in this sector with integrated payment solutions. This solution will enable travel agents to secure business opportunities without the worry of failed payments or the challenge of managing upfront supplier payments.”

He added, “We have engaged with our clients and industry professionals to understand their specific needs, and this new solution is just one of many initiatives we are rolling out to cater to our customers across various sectors.”

Eva Ngigi-Sarwari, Visa Kenya Country Manager, also commented on the partnership, saying, “We are excited to collaborate with Absa Bank Kenya and KATA on this offering for travel agents, reflecting our joint commitment to innovation, convenience, and service excellence. By combining Visa’s global reach and advanced technology with Absa’s deep local market expertise, we believe this new payment solution will significantly enhance the way travel agents manage their transactions, providing them with a seamless, efficient, and secure experience.”

Through this collaboration, Absa Bank and Visa aim to revolutionize payment processes within Kenya’s travel industry, offering tailored solutions to support the growth and success of KATA members.
