Global: Visa and TECH5 Join Forces for Global Government Digital ID Advancement

Visa Inc., a prominent player in digital payments, and TECH5, a pioneer in biometrics and digital identity management, have entered into a strategic collaboration agreement focused on the development and enhancement of digital government ecosystems worldwide.

This partnership aims to create a roadmap encompassing various initiatives and projects designed to establish a robust foundation for advancing digital payments, digital identity management, and other ecosystem-driven services on a global scale.

The key components of the partnership agreement include:

  1. Designing and implementing improved digital government ecosystems in selected countries.
  2. Developing and supporting the Go-to-Market roadmap for a SuperApp, enabling Visa card credentials for citizens and non-residents through multiple digital channels.
  3. Developing a roadmap to expand card acceptance for government disbursements and payment programs across all platforms.
  4. Initiating programs for financial literacy and digital inclusion.
  5. Cooperating in the preparation of regulatory acts for the development of digital payments.

Shahebaz Khan, Senior Vice President, Head of Commercial and Money Movement Solutions at Visa CEMEA, expresses enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our joint efforts will concentrate on enhancing digital government ecosystems worldwide, with a special focus on advancing digital payments and digital identity management services. We believe that this partnership will allow us to implement digital ID-based payment infrastructure and services on a national level, unlocking significant market potential.”

TECH5, known for its biometric SDKs and software platforms for contactless biometric capture and matching, digital ID issuance and management, sees this collaboration as an opportunity to contribute its deep understanding and implementation expertise to Foundational ID projects at a national level. Machiel van der Harst, TECH5’s Co-founder and CEO, emphasizes the team’s excitement about bringing technology components and infrastructure that support biometric matching, digital ID, and identity wallet solutions for frictionless and secure payments.

This collaboration between Visa and TECH5 aims to unlock vast market potential, enabling the implementation of digital ID-based payment infrastructure and services not only on a national level but also in economic zones where services can be implemented cross-border.
