Access Bank appoints Ifedayo Orimoloye as Executive Director, Risk Management

Access Bank Plc has appointed Ifedayo Olaniyi Orimoloye as Executive Director, Risk Management, following approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Access Holdings Plc announced the appointment on Friday, with Orimoloye expected to assume the role on September 21, 2026.

Orimoloye joins Access Bank with more than 25 years of experience in risk management across financial institutions in Africa, Europe and the United States.

He most recently served as Group Chief Risk Officer of the African Development Bank (AfDB), where he oversaw a risk portfolio exceeding $40 billion.

During his tenure at the development finance institution, he contributed to strengthening its risk management framework and supporting the continued maintenance of its AAA credit ratings from Moody’s Investors Service, S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings.

His professional experience spans enterprise risk management, capital optimisation, credit governance, regulatory compliance and strategic transformation.

Career spans leading financial institutions

Prior to joining the African Development Bank, Orimoloye held senior risk management positions at Sterling Bank Plc, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Wells Fargo Bank, HSBC and Citigroup.

According to Access Holdings, he also contributed to major capital and securitisation transactions, including initiatives focused on expanding renewable energy access across Africa.

His experience across banking, development finance and international financial institutions is expected to bring additional expertise to Access Bank’s risk management and governance functions.

Orimoloye holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance and an MBA in Finance from California State University, Hayward.

Access Holdings highlights governance focus

Group Chairman of Access Holdings, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, said Orimoloye’s international experience would strengthen the bank’s risk governance as the institution continues to expand its operations.

“Mr. Orimoloye brings strong global risk management experience and strategic leadership to the Board of Access Bank Plc,” Aig-Imoukhuede said.

Access Holdings said the appointment reinforces Access Bank’s focus on governance, prudent risk management and sustainable stakeholder value.

The appointment comes as the bank continues to strengthen the expertise supporting its risk, compliance and governance framework across its expanding operations.
