Mastercard is preparing to launch its new Identity Attribute Verification service across select European markets, aiming to improve the security and accuracy of digital transactions. This new service will build on existing industry standards set by EMVCo, allowing issuers to verify more comprehensive cardholder details beyond the traditional name and payment information.

The enhanced service will enable issuers to validate additional attributes such as age, date of birth, and address, providing a more robust verification process that addresses the growing need for secure digital transactions.

Dennis Gamiello, Mastercard’s Executive Vice President of Identity, highlighted the benefits of the new system, stating, “By utilizing the technology embedded in payment cards, our solutions will empower our partners to seamlessly verify whether a consumer meets the criteria for certain products and services, while safeguarding their privacy. This eliminates the need for cumbersome document uploads like photo IDs, proof of residency, or passports.”

Gamiello added that Mastercard plans to expand this enhanced identity verification service to more European markets over the next year. The service aims to address the increasing demand for reliable digital verification, ensuring the safety of personal data while making processes like age or location verification more efficient for consumers and businesses alike.
