The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has inaugurated an Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at its headquarters in Abuja, marking a significant step in its commitment to combat corruption and promote transparency.
During the inauguration ceremony conducted by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mr. Bello Hassan, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of NDIC, underscored the corporation’s steadfast stance of zero tolerance for corruption. He emphasized that this stance is reinforced by NDIC’s core values of teamwork, respect, fairness, integrity, professionalism, and passion.
Representing the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Mustapha M. Ibrahim, the Executive Director of Operations, highlighted the proactive measures implemented by NDIC to enhance ethics, integrity, transparency, and accountability in its operations. These measures include robust internal controls, regular risk assessments, strict adherence to regulatory guidelines, and comprehensive training programs for employees.
Hassan hailed the inauguration as a significant milestone in NDIC’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption and promote transparency. He reaffirmed NDIC Management’s unwavering support for ACTU activities, recognizing the unit’s pivotal role in upholding integrity and fostering public trust in the corporation.
Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of ICPC, commended NDIC Management for their dedication and active collaboration in establishing and advancing the ACTU’s activities. Represented by ICPC Acting Director of System Study and Review, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, Aliyu applauded the efficiency and diligence of NDIC ACTU in fulfilling its mandate, leading to the corporation’s top ranking for two consecutive years on the ICPC Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard.
He urged the newly appointed ACTU members to view their nomination as an opportunity to build upon the achievements of their predecessors and to support Management’s efforts in promoting NDIC’s core values through their assigned duties.
