During his inaugural address to the agency’s management and staff, Halilu expressed the significance of recognizing and leveraging the exceptional technology talents that Nigeria possesses, stating that Nigerian tech talents are among the finest globally and are achieving remarkable feats around the world.

One of Halilu’s primary objectives as the CEO of NASENI is to facilitate technology transfer. He articulated, “Our top priority is to focus on technology transfer. The world is increasingly looking towards Africa, presenting a unique opportunity. Many countries are eager to engage in technology exchange with Africa. We must not overlook our exceptional talents. Nigerians are among the world’s best, accomplishing incredible feats in various corners of the globe. We must harness this wealth of expertise and experience. We are committed to creating an environment and providing the necessary support to fulfill this mission.”

Halilu further emphasized that NASENI’s mandate is to utilize Nigeria’s resources, talents, capacity, and energy to drive the nation’s economic development priorities under the new administration. He underscored the agency’s commitment to utilizing science, innovation, and technology resources for the benefit of Nigerians and to enhance the national economy.

“We are dedicated to fostering innovation, science, and technology to benefit Nigerians and contribute to the national economy,” he asserted.

Halilu also emphasized that the agency will actively adopt, adapt, and domesticate cutting-edge technologies wherever they are found. He envisions building a pool of highly educated and talented personnel, supporting world-class research and development (R&D), and establishing partnerships and collaborations with various stakeholders within Nigeria, across Africa, and globally.

He highlighted the agency’s commitment to collaboration with government ministries, departments, and agencies at the federal and state levels, as well as engagement with the private sector, international organizations, development partners, and the media.

Halilu concluded by emphasizing the substantial opportunities for Nigeria to excel in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and innovation.

The statement also noted that the agency’s top management staff, led by the Coordinating Director of Planning and Business Development, Mrs. Nonyem Onyechi, welcomed Mr. Khalil Halilu and guided him on a tour of NASENI’s facilities.

Mr. Khalil Halilu assumed the role of Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of NASENI, succeeding Dr. Bashir Gwandu, who was officially appointed as the substantive EVC/CEO of the agency by former President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023.
