Safaricom’s M-PESA is its biggest product, and one of the many services that make the telco attractive to Kenyans. M-PESA has also been supplemented with many services, which have gone a long way in making the experience better for everyone, and a go-to service for businesses. Buy Goods and Pay Bill services are some of the many features that have made it a key proposition for the said businesses because it helps them collect revenue in a manner that many locals understand. The two products are widely used and it was only a few months ago that their interoperability was started. Now, customers on other mobile money platforms (Airtel Money, T-Kash) can access Safaricom till and pay bill numbers, which was not the case before.

Our range of APIs enable our partners to meet different needs, including the recycling of float between M-PESA collection and disbursement accounts. Over time, many partners have utilized these APIs for other services including Bank to PayBill, Bank to BuyGoods, BuyGoods to BuyGoods and PayBill to PayBill payments – Safaricom in a statement

Safaricom adds that it seeks to ensure that M-PESA and its partners are fully compliant with existing regulations, meaning, the carrier will be applying new tariffs for all M-PESA Bug Goods and Paybill transactions, including across all APIs that perform such transactions.

The new rates will go live on November 11, 2022.
