Africa recruitment outsourcing company TalentQL has been accepted into Techstars Toronto. The company will join nine other startups participating in the accelerator’s 2021 class. It was earlier covered how Nigeria’s bus-booking platform Plentywaka joined the program too.
TalentQL began last November with Opeyemi Awoyemi, Adewale Yusuf, and Akintunde Sultan. Yusuf co-founded Techpoint Africa, a Nigeria-based tech media publication while Awoyemi is the co-founder of Jobberman, an online recruitment site. Sultan founded DevCareer, a non-profit tech accelerator.
TalentQL helps local recruitment clients where other models involve hiring vetted engineers for international companies, managing them, providing taxes, and healthcare insurance services. According to Yusuf, the company plans to adopt a pan African approach, and attract Africans in the EU and US diaspora. This will help it consolidate and fulfill its pan-African ambitions and open an office in Kenya.
TalentQL currently hosts over 2000 tech developers on its platform and over 2000 different tech skills. The developers on the platform cater to clients across Kenya, Nigeria, the USA, and Europe. Last year, the startup raised $300,000 in a pre-seed round from a Lagos-based investment firm.
