Lyca Mobile Uganda has expanded its network offerings with the launch of the SUPA SIM and a new ultra-low call rate plan, reinforcing its commitment to making communication more affordable and accessible across the country.
The telecom operator introduced a new nationwide call tariff of UGX 1 per second for calls to all networks in Uganda—one of the lowest rates in the market. This move aims to help users stay connected with family, friends, and colleagues while reducing the cost of everyday communication.
In addition to the new call plan, Lyca Mobile unveiled the SUPA SIM, a free SIM card packed with flexible data and call options designed to meet the diverse needs of Ugandan consumers. The SUPA SIM offers five tailored data plans, allowing users to select packages based on their usage preferences—from light messaging and browsing to streaming and work-related internet use.
Subscribers also benefit from unlimited free calls between Lyca Mobile numbers, enhancing affordability and encouraging seamless communication within the network.
Lyca Mobile says the initiative reflects its goal of broadening digital access and empowering Ugandans with reliable, cost-effective mobile solutions. By combining competitive pricing with flexible packages, the telecom provider aims to bridge the affordability gap in mobile connectivity and drive digital inclusion nationwide.
“With the new SUPA SIM and reduced call rates, Lyca Mobile is ensuring that every Ugandan—whether in cities or rural areas—can stay connected without financial strain,” the company noted in a statement.
The launch comes amid intensifying competition in Uganda’s telecom sector, where operators are racing to attract users through lower tariffs and enhanced digital services. Analysts say Lyca Mobile’s focus on affordability and customer flexibility strengthens its position as a challenger brand in a market increasingly defined by value-driven offerings.
Beyond affordability, Lyca Mobile’s latest rollout contributes to Uganda’s broader digital transformation agenda, promoting internet access, online entrepreneurship, and social connectivity.
