Mobile telecom operator MTN has announced another appointment as they roped in former Telkom financial controller, Marvin Ncube.
Ncube joins the giant mobile telecoms operator as the company’s new executive for business finance – he will resume his duties in september.
Dubbed as one of the continent’s biggest telecoms companies, MTN, confirmed the appointment on Monday (Aug 24), announcing that Ncube will lead MTN’s financial planning and analysis.
The new executive will also focus on regional and manco finance business partnering and group capital management.
Boasting an experience of 19 years in the finance sector, Ncube is the second executive to exit Telkom’s finance department and joins MTN, he follows the departure of former chief financial officer Tsholofelo Molefe, who was also snapped up by MTN.
Speaking about Ncube’s qualities, Molefe has expressed confidence in the appointment, saying the executive will add value to MTN.
“Given his vast experience, expertise, and accomplishments, I am confident Marvin will add immense value to these portfolios and to the group,” says Molefe, MTN Group chief financial officer as per ITWeb.
Prior to Telkom, Ncube was a finance business partner (divisional CFO) at Eskom and MTN says he also served on various boards that include the South African Dental Association, Mozambique Transmission Company, Eskom, and Trans-Africa Projects, providing strategic insights and direction.
Checking out his credentials, Ncube is a chartered accountant (SA) with an MBA from the University of Pretoria (GIBS).
Apart from that, he also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from Rhodes University and a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Cape Town.
Furthermore, Ncube joins Willington Ngwepe as the latest high-profile hire by MTN in the last two weeks, Ngwepe is an outgoing Independent Communications Authority of SA CEO and joined MTN as chief of staff in the office of the group president and CEO.
