SA edtech Watobe raises $636,000 in seed funding

Twinkl, a Shiefiled based educational publisher has announced an investment partnership with Watobe, a South Africa edtech platform as reported by Insider Media limited. This digital education platform looks to tackle the problems faced by students and the African education system.

The investment has seen Watobe join TwinklHive, a business accelerator based in Cape Town and runs to help businesses and entrepreneurs with a shared mission of helping educators transform their learning experiences. This $636,000 investment sets the company’s valuation at $6.3 million.

Watobe was founded in 2019 to offer online math lessons to students from the ages of 7 to 12. The platform offers streaming and on-demand content such as movies, workout routines, quizzes and instructor support.

Henry Warren, the chair and founder of Watobe expressed excitement working with Twinkl, describing it as “one of the world’s leading educational companies.”

David Angrave, the COO described Twinkl as “ a large market where needs are currently underserved.”
