The RegTech Association of Hong Kong (the Association) held its General Meeting on Monday 24 May 2021 via Zoom and under the Chairmanship of Felix Cheung.

Felix Cheung, RISKflo (GRC Workflow Collaboration), was re-elected as Chairman of the Association, while Lawrence Yeung of Earth Channel (KYC) was re-elected as Honorary Treasurer and Jenny Chow of Regflags (AML/CFT Detection) was elected as Honorary Legal Advisor.

The meeting also saw the election of new Board Members Benjamin Petit of Chekk (eKYC & Digital Identity), Alex Oxford of AML Analytics (AML Technology Audit), David Liu of Moment Fintech (Venture Builder) and Simon Leung of TESS Asia (Trade Based Money Laundering).

The election of new Board Directors and re-election of standing members will provide a balance across multiple RegTech firms and use cases of RegTech to enable the Association to leverage deep, practical insight balanced against diversity in experience, thought and skill sets.

The General Meeting was held in the backdrop of Hong Kong’s continued push to be at the forefront of RegTech adoption in Asia and globally as supported by the government and supervisory bodies such as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority who have been keen supporters of the use cases of RegTech for financial institutions.

In 2020 and 2021 the Hong Kong Monetary Authority alone has published over 5 major whitepapers and case studies contributing to the adoption of RegTech locally whilst tabled to host the first “Unlocking the power of RegTech” in June 2021.

With more RegTech vendors entering the Hong Kong market from abroad, and homegrown technology startup’s born each month, matched with growing appetite for RegTech within the banking and financial services sector, the Association can act as the leading advocate and voice for RegTech vendors, institutions, and stakeholders to promote and support the community, Felix Cheung Chairman of the RegTech Association of Hong Kong said.

“Collectively, we will continue to promote and accelerate the RegTech adoption and development in Hong Kong and beyond.”

“We are committed to building a like-minded and cohesive community for the better of the Hong Kong RegTech development. We will continue deepening our relationships with members, expanding our network, and collaborating with different stakeholders”.

The RegTech Association of Hong Kong would like to thank the prior Board for their dedicated service and continued support of the RegTech ecosystem in Hong Kong.

About the RegTech Association of Hong Kong – The RegTech Association of Hong Kong is an independent, not-for-profit association founded by a community of RegTech startups and partners in 2019. Its objective is to promote RegTech adoption and development in Hong Kong and beyond.
