In observance of the 2023 World Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day, Vice President Kashim Shettima has announced the Federal Government’s determination to facilitate prompt access to low-interest loans for small businesses in Nigeria.

The Vice President’s statement, released by Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information at the Office of the Vice President, underscores the vital role of MSMEs in driving economic growth, job creation, and innovation.

Shettima emphasized the government’s commitment to providing support, creating a favorable environment, and enhancing financial accessibility for MSMEs, particularly during these challenging times.

“While acknowledging the difficulties faced by MSMEs due to subsidy removal, he assured stakeholders that the government is diligently working to ensure swift access to low-interest loans for Nigerian small businesses,” the statement read.

“We remain dedicated to offering support, fostering an enabling environment, and improving financial access for MSMEs, especially in these unprecedented times. We urge all stakeholders to join forces in promoting the growth and success of MSMEs to achieve sustainable development for all. While we recognize the multitude of challenges faced by MSMEs as a result of the subsidy removal, the government is taking urgent measures to ensure quick access to low-interest loans for Nigerian small businesses as soon as possible.”

The Vice President further highlighted the partnership between President Bola Tinubu’s administration and MSMEs, reaffirming the government’s commitment to facilitating their success.
