Coingecko’s recent study shows the top countries leading in the enthusiasm for meme coins in 2023, only two African countries were featured, with Nigeria leading at 5th and Morocco standing at 10th.
Nigeria’s interest in meme coins differs from that of the other eight countries. Floki and ArbDoge AI drew the most attention, with 24.2% and 20.8%, respectively.
Regardless of receiving a small interest share elsewhere, Dogelon Mars made 17.4% of Nigeria’s interest in meme coins.
This indicates that people in Nigeria also have an interest in lesser-known meme coins rather than imitating those that are already popular.
Dogecoin, on the other hand, obtained 61.1% of Morocco’s interest in meme coins but acquired very little interest from the rest of the countries.
The top ten countries are as follows: 1) the United States. 2). India. The third country is the United Kingdom. 4) The Philippines. Nigeria is number five. 6) The country of Australia. New Zealand is number seven. 8th. Canada. Malaysia (9th) and Morocco (10th).
The United States, unsurprisingly, is at the forefront of the meme coin craze, accounting for 23.6% of interest in 2023 so far, with more than two million visits to each of the top meme coin pages.
Shiba Inu is by quite the most popular meme coin, accounting for 46.7% of all interest in 2023. Baby Doge Coin attracted 12.3% of meme coin interest, followed by Pepe (9.4%), Floki (8.6%), and Bonk (8.2%).
Shiba Inu is the most widespread meme coin in the United States this year, accounting for 60.7% of all meme coin interest. Pepe, a recently trending cryptocurrency, drove another 11.8% of meme coin interest in the United States, followed by Bonk and Volt Inu.
India is in second place in using the meme coin hype this year, accounting for 20.3% of total interest.
Shiba Inu is also the most prominent coin in India, accounting for 55.8% of the speculative asset’s interest in the South Asian country. At the same time, Baby Doge Coin sparked 29.9% of India’s interest in meme coins.
