Kashifu Inuwa, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), expressed his belief that Nigeria has the potential to become a premier global exporter of talent. He emphasized that this ambitious goal could be attained through the collaborative efforts of both public and private sector stakeholders in harnessing the power of digital technology for job creation, fostering inclusive economic growth, and ensuring sustainability.
Inuwa made this assertion during the 2023 Digital Nigeria Conference in Abuja, underscoring Nigeria’s capacity to compete on a global scale in terms of talent. He contended that while Nigeria might not be able to rival other countries in manufacturing and similar domains, it has a distinct advantage in nurturing and showcasing exceptional talent. He cited successful examples from Nigeria’s music industry, sports, and filmmaking sectors as proof of the nation’s immense potential, expressing his confidence in replicating these achievements in the technology industry.
During the conference’s inaugural day, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, called for greater synergy within the technology ecosystem to expedite the development of Nigeria’s digital economy.
Funke Opeke, the Managing Director of Main One, delivered a keynote address at the event, highlighting that Nigeria has yet to fully capitalize on the opportunities offered by digital technologies. Her remarks underscored the importance of further advancements in the digital landscape for Nigeria’s future growth and success.
