Nigeria: Over One Million Applications Received for Federal Government’s 3MTT Programme

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has revealed that the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program has received over one million applications to date.

Dr. Tijani shared this news and announced that the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy would soon unveil the next steps for the 3MTT program.

In a post on X, the minister provided statistics, with over one million total trainees, 18,644 total providers, and 1,407 total partners.

Notably, IHS Telecom has pledged N1 billion in funding for the 3MTT program, which includes covering the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers in various locations for the next three years.

The 3MTT program, a key component of the Renewed Hope agenda, aims to train three million Nigerians in technical skills over the next four years. The program will be conducted in three phases: the first phase accommodating 30,000 people, the second phase admitting 300,000, and the remaining three million participants in the third phase.

The program’s goal is to build Nigeria’s technical talent base to support the digital economy and position Nigeria as a net talent exporter.

In the first phase, executed in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), individuals with an interest in specific skills will be selected, and their training costs will be funded in partnership with approved training providers.
