NITDA Partners with Flutterwave and Alami to Drive Digital Transformation and SME Growth

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has forged a strategic alliance with Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology firm, and Alami, a private sector player supporting young entrepreneurs and SMEs in technology and creative industries. This partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation and bolstering its economic growth.

Advancing Nigeria’s Digital Economy

This collaboration aligns with NITDA’s mission to implement the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS), ensuring SMEs have the digital resources needed to thrive. The initiative was cemented following discussions between NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola, and Alami CEO Olu White, where they explored fintech innovation, digital literacy, and infrastructure development.

Bridging the Digital Divide

The partnership will drive digital literacy, fintech innovation, and access to secure and efficient financial solutions for businesses.

NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, highlighted the crucial role of public-private collaboration in driving Nigeria’s digital economy agenda:

“Flutterwave’s innovative fintech solutions align with our vision for a thriving digital economy. Slow digital adoption among SMEs has been a major obstacle to economic growth. Through this collaboration, we aim to equip businesses with the resources and infrastructure needed to transition into the digital age.”

He further underscored the importance of engaging key private sector players like Flutterwave to fast-track Nigeria’s digital transformation:

“This partnership marks a critical step toward achieving shared digital transformation goals, reinforcing our commitment to Nigeria’s progress in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

By providing businesses with digital tools, the initiative seeks to fuel economic growth, generate employment, and create inclusive digital opportunities.

Flutterwave’s Commitment to SMEs

Flutterwave’s Founder and CEO, Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, expressed optimism about the partnership’s impact:

“Many small businesses in Nigeria struggle with adopting digital solutions. By offering seamless and secure payment technologies, we can help them scale with confidence. Our collaboration with NITDA strengthens our commitment to fostering an inclusive digital economy.”
