Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT), emphasized the substantial contributions of her organization to Nigeria’s digitalization efforts and its Internally Generated Revenues (IGR).
During her visit to the regional office of NIGCOMSAT in Gombe State, Egerton-Idehen discussed the organization’s activities and the pursuit of potential partnerships. She highlighted NIGCOMSAT’s establishment with the objective of fostering the growth of the broadcasting industry, thereby maximizing revenue and expanding Nigeria’s access to digital communications.
Egerton-Idehen pointed out that NIGCOMSAT also plays a role in attracting foreign direct investments to Nigeria. Additionally, she mentioned that a significant portion of the country’s revenue, 19%, is derived from the communications sector.
She stressed the importance of technology as an engine for economic development and highlighted NIGCOMSAT’s readiness to provide the nation with reliable internet services that can stimulate innovation and technological advancements. Egerton-Idehen encouraged media, industry players, and educational institutions to explore partnership opportunities with NIGCOMSAT to facilitate access to technology and promote sustainable economic growth across the country.
