NIGCOMSAT Limited, Nigeria’s leading satellite communication infrastructure provider, has entered a strategic partnership with the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) to offer uplink services through the NIGCOMSAT satellite network. This collaboration, initially set for three months, aims to significantly enhance the quality and reach of broadcast services for BON members across Nigeria.

This initiative is in line with the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, under the leadership of Honourable Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani. NIGCOMSAT will leverage its advanced satellite technology to support BON and its member organizations, ensuring high-quality and consistent broadcast signals nationwide.

“NIGCOMSAT is dedicated to driving digital transformation and enhancing connectivity across Nigeria,” stated Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director and CEO of NIGCOMSAT Ltd. “By partnering with BON, we have the opportunity to elevate the country’s broadcasting landscape and bring the benefits of satellite technology to millions of Nigerians.”

The collaboration will commence immediately, with NIGCOMSAT’s technical team working closely with BON to integrate their systems for a seamless transition. This partnership underscores NIGCOMSAT’s commitment to fostering the growth of Nigeria’s media and communications sectors, empowering citizens with reliable and informative content.

Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, Executive Secretary of BON, expressed gratitude to NIGCOMSAT Ltd for their substantial support, including the allocation of two transponders at discounted rates. “BON members have been promptly notified of this development, which is set to add immense value to the broadcasting industry in the country,” he said.

Additionally, NIGCOMSAT Ltd participated in the 79th General Assembly of BON, held this week in Benin City, Edo State. The event provided a unique opportunity for interaction with CEOs of BON stations, paving the way for potential partnerships and collaborative initiatives to benefit the broadcasting industry.
