Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), underscored the significance of Technology as a Service (TaaS) for the nation during his keynote presentation at the Africa Tech Alliance Forum 3.0 in Lagos.

The event, themed “Driving Technology as a Service through Infrastructure Deployment,” focused on leveraging infrastructure deployment to advance TaaS for economic benefits. TaaS operates on a subscription or pay-per-use model, providing access to various technological resources without the need for ownership.

Maida emphasized that deploying infrastructure would be a crucial foundation for effective TaaS, bringing forth a future where technological barriers are minimized, and possibilities are limitless. He highlighted the innovative approach of TaaS, which transforms capital expenditure into operational costs, relieving businesses of financial burdens.

The NCC aims to boost Nigeria’s broadband penetration rate to 70% by the end of 2025 through extensive fiber optic cable deployment and provide coverage for at least 80% of the country’s population by the end of 2027.

The convergence of TaaS and infrastructure deployment signals a new era in technological advancements, fostering innovation, growth, and democratized access to cutting-edge solutions for businesses of all sizes.

During a panel discussion, industry experts highlighted the cost reduction and job creation potential of TaaS. Advocacy, sensitization, and awareness campaigns were identified as essential for broader adoption.

In conclusion, the event recognized industry leaders through the Africa Tech Alliance Excellence Awards, acknowledging their contributions to the advancement of technology and services.
