In a major step toward enhancing regulatory compliance and operational efficiency in Nigeria’s pension sector, Interswitch—one of Africa’s foremost digital technology companies—has unveiled PensionRemit, a fully automated platform developed to support employers’ transition to the recently introduced Pension Contribution Remittance System (PCRS).
The platform, officially announced on Monday, is in full compliance with the new framework mandated by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) and the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), which came into effect on June 1, 2025.
As an approved Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) under the PCRS regime, Interswitch PensionRemit enables a seamless, end-to-end process for pension remittances. The platform allows employers to upload contribution schedules, validate Retirement Savings Account (RSA) PINs and Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) in real time, and complete secure payments, all within a single integrated workflow.
“Our focus has always been on removing friction and unlocking growth for businesses,” said Muyiwa Asagba, Managing Director of Interswitch Inclusio. “With Interswitch PensionRemit, we’re delivering digital infrastructure that empowers employers to meet pension obligations easily and at zero cost, reinforcing our mission to drive inclusive financial participation through innovation.”
Osasere Atohengbe, Vice President of Sales and Account Management at Interswitch, emphasized the platform’s role in addressing long-standing inefficiencies in the pension remittance process:
“We developed PensionRemit with employers and the future in mind. It reflects a clear response to PenCom’s evolving regulatory directives and is tailored to meet the needs of both large corporations and SMEs in a practical and efficient manner.”
Built for scalability and compliance, PensionRemit caters to corporates, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and payroll service providers. Its feature set includes:
- Real-time validation and tracking of remittance schedules
- Automated audit trails with instant receipts
- Seamless integration with payroll, HR, and ERP systems
- Zero platform fees for employers
- Reduced compliance and reporting overhead
Interswitch also noted that the platform will support service providers, including human resource software vendors and enterprise solution providers, enabling integrated pension compliance across broader financial and administrative workflows.
The launch of PensionRemit reflects Interswitch’s deepening commitment to regulatory technology (RegTech)innovation, advancing transparency, accountability, and ease of doing business across Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
Employers and service providers are now encouraged to explore the platform and transition smoothly to PCRS-compliant operations.
