Galaxy Backbone, NASENI Strengthen Partnership to Advance Nigeria’s Digital Infrastructure

Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) have renewed their collaboration to enhance government-wide ICT services, supporting Nigeria’s broader digital transformation agenda.

The renewed commitment follows a courtesy visit by GBB’s Managing Director/CEO, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, to NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. According to a statement issued by GBB, the meeting provided both institutions with an opportunity to deepen cooperation and advance a unified vision for more efficient, secure, and technology-driven public service delivery.

GBB—Nigeria’s central provider of digital infrastructure and shared ICT services—reaffirmed its mandate to expand secure connectivity across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), strengthen interoperability, and promote the adoption of homegrown technologies within the national ICT ecosystem.

Both chief executives highlighted their shared commitment to enhancing interoperability across government platforms, broadening digital access, and supporting smarter, more efficient public services nationwide.
GBB noted that its focus remains on powering “a resilient government-wide ICT backbone, promoting secure digital platforms, and enabling an environment where innovation can thrive.”

The agency added that the strengthened partnership aligns with ongoing national efforts to accelerate Nigeria’s digital economy and drive sustainable, technology-enabled development.

The renewed collaboration builds on recent milestones. In July 2025, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, reaffirmed confidence in achieving a fully paperless civil service by December 31, 2025, after a working visit to Galaxy Backbone. She described GBB as a strategic partner in building a modern, agile, and digitally driven public service.

By September 2025, Galaxy Backbone further consolidated its institutional resilience with the renewal of four major international certifications—ISO 9001, ISO 22301, ISO 20000, and ISO 27001—covering quality management, business continuity, service management, and information security. GBB said the certifications reinforce its ability to provide secure, scalable, and reliable ICT services to government institutions and private-sector organisations across Nigeria.
