The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has urged the Chartered Risk Management Institute of Nigeria to use its position to develop risk management professionals who will help to develop and implement effective risk management strategies in the economy.

Emefiele spoke on Thursday (May 11, 2023) in Lagos at the inauguration of the CRMI, which was formally known as the Risk Management Association of Nigeria.

He said, “As noted earlier, the elevation of RIMAN to a chartered institute is a clear testament to your collective commitment to enhancing risk management practices in our country; through the provision of high- quality training and certification programs.

The governor who was represented by the Director, Risk Management Department, CBN, Dr. Blaise Ijebor, noted that the institute, through the promotion of best practices in risk management, had the potential to contribute in significant ways to the broader financial sector and the larger economy.

Emefiele urged the institute to see itself as a change maker in the joint effort to grow the national economy and improve the lot of the common man.

While commending the leadership and vision that made the institute a reality, he encouraged all its stakeholders to support the institute in its mission to promote sound risk management practices.

The President CRMI, Dr. Ezekiel Oseni, the event marked a significant day in the history of risk management in Nigeria as it inaugurated the Chartered Risk Management Institute of Nigeria; an organisation dedicated to promoting the highest standards of risk management practices in Nigeria.
