CRC Credit Bureau Elevates Jelilat Kareem to Executive Director

CRC Credit Bureau Limited has announced the appointment of Mrs. Jelilat Kareem as its first-ever Executive Director, following confirmation by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Chairman of the Board, Mr. Joel Owoade, described the appointment as a strategic move that underscores the Bureau’s strong commitment to corporate governance and succession planning. He noted that Kareem’s elevation from within the organisation would not only strengthen the company’s leadership structure but also inspire greater motivation among staff.

“This appointment reflects our belief in internal talent development and will further enhance the morale of our workforce. Mrs. Kareem’s track record of excellence and dedication makes her an ideal choice for this pivotal role,” Owoade stated.

In his remarks, Dr. ‘Tunde Popoola, Managing Director of CRC Credit Bureau, hailed the appointment as historic, marking a new chapter in the institution’s leadership journey. He highlighted Kareem’s deep institutional knowledge and her instrumental role in positioning CRC as the largest single-unit private credit bureau in Africa since its inception in 2008.

“Mrs. Kareem’s appointment is both a recognition and a reward for her outstanding contribution to CRC’s growth and leadership in the credit information industry,” Dr. Popoola said. “Her dedication and professionalism embody CRC’s values of excellence, innovation, and impact. We are confident that her leadership will further advance our mission of expanding access to credit, deepening financial inclusion, and driving sustainable economic growth in Nigeria.”

The appointment, CRC noted, aligns with its long-term strategy to empower capable leaders from within and ensure continued organisational excellence across the credit ecosystem.
