The highly anticipated second edition of the International Financial Inclusion Conference (#IFIC2023), Nigeria’s premier financial inclusion event, is scheduled to take place on October 5th and 6th, 2023, at the prestigious Landmark Event Center in Lagos. The conference’s theme is “Financial Inclusion for All: Global Insights for Local Impact.”

Hosted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in collaboration with partner agencies within the National Financial Inclusion Governance Committees, IFIC 2023 serves as a dynamic platform for global thought leaders, regulators, and various stakeholders to convene, deliberate, and collaborate on contemporary strategies to advance financial inclusion in Africa and beyond.

Distinguished keynote speakers for the event include Dr. Chea Serey, the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia; Dr. Alfred Hannig, Executive Director of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion; and Dr. Reza Baqir, former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan.

The conference will explore a wide range of critical topics, such as fintech-driven solutions for reaching the underserved, harnessing the potential of big data and artificial intelligence, promoting inclusive product innovation, especially in non-interest finance, and leveraging payment systems to extend financial inclusion to marginalized segments, including women, rural communities, youth, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Additionally, discussions will encompass consumer protection, fraud prevention, and data privacy.

In addition to the substantive conference sessions, IFIC 2023 will feature Innovation Labs, the presentation of Financial Inclusion Awards, and various side events. These activities will provide ample opportunities to showcase Nigeria as an attractive investment destination, further supporting economic development within the country and the broader sub-region.

The inaugural edition of IFIC, held at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja in 2022, garnered significant attention and participation. The event saw the presence of notable figures, including former President Mohammadu Buhari, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, esteemed Nigerian ministers, and influential personalities from the global financial inclusion community. With over 5,000 participants from 78 countries, the conference received overwhelmingly positive feedback, generating high anticipation for the 2023 edition.

Overall, IFIC 2023 promises to be an enlightening and interactive platform for networking, fostering connections within the vibrant and internationally diverse Whova community. Participants can expect a rich array of offerings, whether attending in person or virtually.
