Doha, Qatar – The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has clarified that a temporary disruption in the National ATM and Point of Sale (POS) network, known as NAPS, was caused by a technical issue that briefly affected debit card transactions on devices not affiliated with the card-issuing banks.
In a statement, QCB confirmed that the issue was swiftly identified and resolved by its specialised technical teams, restoring normal operations within two hours. The interruption impacted only debit card usage at third-party ATMs and POS terminals.
The Central Bank further assured the public that other banking services—including credit card transactions and the Fawran instant payment service—remained fully operational throughout the incident.
QCB reiterated its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted, high-quality financial services across the country, emphasising that rapid response mechanisms are in place to ensure operational continuity and protect consumer confidence in the banking sector.
