Ghana: UBA Ghana Appoints Kenneth Owusu Asante Amponsah as Chief Risk Officer

UBA Ghana Limited is proud to announce the appointment of Kenneth Owusu Asante Amponsah as the Chief Risk Officer of the bank.

Kenneth Owusu Asante Amponsah brings to the table a wealth of experience in Risk Management and Management Information Systems (MIS), with a particular focus on Credit, Enterprise, and Quantitative Risk Management.

Mr. Amponsah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Cape Coast University, Ghana, and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Coventry University, UK.

He is a certified professional in Quantitative Risk Management (CQRM) and holds an International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulations (ICBRR).

Kenneth embarked on his banking career in 2009 at Access Bank Ghana, where he started as a Credit Officer. In 2011, he played a key role in establishing the Credit Operations Unit.

Subsequently, he joined First Atlantic Bank Ghana Limited (FABL), leading the Credit Administration & Portfolio Management Department. In 2017, he assumed the position of Head of Credit Risk Management at FBN Bank. In this role, he oversaw the adoption and implementation of the Environmental, Social, and Governance Management (ESGM) framework/system.

Mr. Chris Ofikulu, the Bank’s Regional CEO for West Africa, expressed his satisfaction with Mr. Amponsah’s appointment.

He remarked, “We are delighted to welcome Kenneth to the Bank at this juncture, where his expertise as a seasoned Risk Manager is vital for fortifying our Risk structures. I am confident that this appointment will further enhance the Bank’s commitment to excellence in risk management and governance.”

UBA Ghana extends a warm welcome to Mr. Kenneth Amponsah and anticipates his significant contributions to the Risk Management functions.
