The National Communications Authority (NCA) has unveiled plans to collaborate with mobile network operators (MNOs) to ensure seamless telecommunication services during and after the 2024 elections.
Speaking at a press briefing, Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, the NCA’s Deputy Director-General for Technical Operations, emphasized the crucial role of reliable communication in facilitating effective information dissemination during the election period.
Establishing a Situation Room
To bolster network reliability, the NCA has set up a dedicated situation room to monitor and address any potential disruptions. This initiative will involve close collaboration with MNOs and other key stakeholders.
“Telecommunications play a critical role in communication and information dissemination during elections. In response, we have established a situation room to ensure that any issues can be swiftly addressed,” Prof. Yeboah-Boateng explained.
He added, “Preparations are already underway as we start our processes over the weekend. The situation room will act as a central hub, receiving reports from the public and providing feedback to the MNOs for timely intervention. Similarly, any reports from the MNOs will be reviewed, and the necessary actions will be taken to maintain uninterrupted communication services.”
Collaboration for Seamless Communication
The partnership between the NCA and MNOs underscores a proactive approach to managing potential challenges in telecommunication networks. This effort aims to guarantee that both citizens and stakeholders can rely on uninterrupted communication services throughout the election period.
With this initiative, the NCA is reinforcing its commitment to providing robust telecom infrastructure, ensuring the smooth exchange of information critical to the success of the electoral process.
