GCB Bank Secures Triple Honours as Digital Banking Adoption Surges in Ghana

GCB Bank PLC has recorded a major milestone in its digital transformation journey, clinching three top awards at the 5th edition of the Ghana FinTech Awards, reflecting growing customer adoption of its digital banking solutions.

The bank received recognition in the following categories:

  • Mobile Banking App of the Year
  • Best Commercial Bank with Digital Innovation
  • FinTech Chief Technical Officer/Chief Information Officer of the Year – Patrick George Quantson

The triple win highlights GCB Bank’s leadership in digital innovation and reinforces its commitment to delivering customer-focused financial services, powered by RegTech solutions, compliance technology, and robust financial compliance frameworks.

GCB’s mobile banking platform has surpassed one million active users, enabling seamless access to services such as fund transfers, bill payments, mobile money transactions, investments, and instant credit. The platform’s rapid adoption reflects increasing trust in secure, efficient, and user-friendly digital channels, supported by strong data privacy and fraud detection capabilities.

Speaking on the achievement, the Managing Director of GCB Bank, Farihan Alhassan, described the awards as validation of the bank’s digital-first strategy.

“Winning three awards in one night affirms our commitment to innovation and our focus on delivering impactful digital solutions that truly serve our customers,” he said.

Under the leadership of Patrick George Quantson, the bank has introduced several transformative innovations, including mobile-led onboarding powered by Ghana Card integration and facial biometrics, expanded self-service functionalities, and the rollout of tailored digital products to meet evolving customer needs.

Quantson, who was recognised as FinTech CTO/CIO of the Year, attributed the success to the bank’s focus on solving real-world challenges through technology.

“These awards reflect the dedication of our team to making digital banking accessible, secure, and reliable. Our goal is not just innovation, but meaningful solutions that enhance everyday financial experiences,” he said.

The recognition comes as GCB Bank continues to invest in digital infrastructure, customer experience, and financial inclusion initiatives—aligning with broader regulatory frameworks and strengthening compliance management systems within Ghana’s financial sector.

The Ghana FinTech Awards celebrate institutions and individuals driving innovation, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation in the financial services industry, with a focus on expanding financial inclusion and advancing the RegTech industry.

As Ghana’s largest indigenous commercial bank, GCB Bank operates 183 branches and over 340 ATMs nationwide. The bank remains a key player in the country’s financial ecosystem, leveraging compliance analytics, risk assessment, and digital innovation to support economic growth and empower individuals and businesses.

The latest recognition underscores the growing role of digital banking platforms in shaping Africa’s financial landscape, where innovation, compliance automation, and customer-centric solutions are driving the next phase of growth.
