Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, has announced the expansion of the Orange Corners program, extending its support to startups in seven additional governorates.
The initiative will now cover Luxor, Assiut, Alexandria, Menoufia, Dakahlia, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Beheira, broadening its impact on Egypt’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
A Strategic Partnership for Entrepreneurship
Orange Corners is a collaborative effort between Egypt and the Netherlands, supported by private sector partners such as the Bank of Alexandria and City Edge Developments. The program is designed to empower young entrepreneurs by providing them with resources, training, and networking opportunities to transform innovative ideas into successful businesses.
Driving Economic Growth Through Innovation
Since its launch in 2021, Orange Corners has backed over 115 startups, with 58% of them led by women, across diverse sectors including:
- Agriculture
- Waste management
- Health
- Education
- E-commerce
- Financial technology
Minister Al-Mashat emphasized the critical role of entrepreneurship in tackling development challenges and stimulating economic growth. She noted that the program is set to support 130 additional startups in 2024, reinforcing Egypt’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive startup ecosystem.
