Swiss fintech company Centi has teamed up with Yellow Card, a leading pan-African cryptocurrency exchange, to revolutionize remittances between Switzerland and Africa. This partnership aims to provide a faster, cheaper, and more transparent alternative to traditional money transfer services, expanding Centi’s presence across 20 African countries.
A Seamless, Low-Cost Money Transfer Solution
With this collaboration, Centi users in Switzerland can now easily convert Swiss francs (CHF) into cryptocurrency, store their funds in non-custodial wallets, and transfer them to recipients in Africa. The funds are then instantly converted into local currency, ensuring a smooth and direct transaction without hidden fees.
By integrating Yellow Card’s crypto-fiat onramp and offramp infrastructure, the service provides an efficient, transparent, and affordable remittance option—eliminating the high fees and poor exchange rates typically associated with traditional remittance services.
Major Cost Savings for Migrants
Centi’s CEO, Bernhard Müller, emphasized the company’s commitment to disrupting outdated remittance systems that overcharge migrants. Thanks to this partnership, users can now send CHF 100 for just CHF 2—an 85% cost reduction compared to conventional providers.
Expanding Access Across Africa
The new service enables:
- Coverage in 20 African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.
- Seamless transfers to over 350 million mobile money users via MTN, Airtel, and M-Pesa.
- Direct deposits into more than 100 African banks.
Yellow Card’s Vision for Financial Inclusion
Yellow Card’s CEO, Chris Maurice, highlighted the impact of the partnership, stating that it eliminates hidden costs and brings instant, stablecoin-based transactions to millions of Africans. With over $3 billion in transactions processed and $33 million in secured funding, Yellow Card continues to build a robust financial infrastructure across the continent.
By joining forces, Centi and Yellow Card are reshaping cross-border payments, making remittances more accessible, affordable, and transparent for African families relying on money transfers.
