In a bid to expedite its digital administration reforms, the Angolan government has joined forces with tech giant Dell Technologies.
The Administrative Modernization Institute (IMA), an auxiliary body of the Angolan Republic’s presidency responsible for public administration modernization, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Dell Technologies in Dubai on July 14. The primary objective of this partnership is to promote digital governance in Angola.
According to the IMA’s statement, the memorandum of understanding between the two entities will facilitate the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and best practices. The focus will be on enhancing the quality of public services, driving digitalization in the economy, improving the business environment, supporting entrepreneurship, providing training, and developing human capital skills.
The collaboration comes after IMA’s participation in the “Dell Technologies World” conference held in May, which aimed to accelerate global digital growth and technological advancement. This new agreement aligns with Angola’s determination to expedite digital growth, enhance local digital services, and cater to the needs of the Angolan people.
In a significant step towards advancing its digital infrastructure, Angola announced an $89 million investment in February to establish a national cloud infrastructure by 2024. The comprehensive digital infrastructure is set to offer over 80 public services across various government centers.
With Dell’s support, Angola intends to further enhance its digital administration processes, which will likely contribute to improving its e-government development score. As of the UN’s 2022 e-Government Development Index, Angola ranked 157th out of 193 countries, placing it among nations with a medium level of electronic administration development. Through this collaboration, Angola aspires to move up the ranks and bolster its digital governance capabilities.
