Angola: Angola’s UNITEL, Huawei ink three-year digitization deal

Angola’s UNITEL S.A. has signed a three-year agreement with Huawei to lay a solid foundation for long-term cooperation in the future.

According to a press release, the collaboration consists of a complete series solution, including the Radio Access Network (RAN) and transmission and innovative services.

UNITEL is the largest telecommunications operator and a pioneer in the Angolan telecommunications market. Its network covers all major population areas, with around 14 million subscribers and an 80% market share.

Through the partnership, UNITEL will continuously increase network capacity and coverage, incubate 5G innovation, provide better services and enhance the optimal user experience.

UNITEL will team up with Huawei to build the most robust and substantial network, ushering in a new era of green, low-carbon telecommunications in Angola.

Miguel Geraldes, General Manager of UNITEL said, “As digitization continues, this partnership will allow UNITEL to further improve the user experience and improve O&M efficiency. UNITEL is committed to accelerating the digitization of industry with leading ICT providers to illuminate Angola’s and industrial development.”

Also commenting, Chu Xiaoxin, CEO of Huawei Angola said, “Since entering the Angolan market in 2002, Huawei has been committed to bringing cutting-edge technologies and advanced solutions to Angolan society”.

Through this partnership, Huawei said it is willing to increase local investments following the path of future collaboration to accelerate digital transformation in Angolan society, facilitate sustainable network evolution and unlock new connectivity values.
