Allianz Africa makes leadership announcements in Kenya, Senegal

Allianz Africa has recently made leadership announcements for its operational entities in Kenya and Senegal.

Adja Samb, currently CEO of Allianz Senegal has been nominated as CEO of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Limited, Kenya, effective on July 1, 2021.

She will succeed Catherine Igathe, the current CEO of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Limited, Kenya, who is leaving the company in mid-July to pursue other opportunities.

“’I would like to personally thank Catherine for her service over the last 15 months and for her support in the transition to Jubilee Allianz. I wish Adja and her team all the best for the future”, stated Chairman of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Limited, Kenya, and of Jubilee Holdings Limited, Nizar Juma.

In her previous role, Adja drove the acquisition and integration of an insurance company in Morocco into the Allianz Group in 2016. As CEO of Allianz Senegal since 2019, she has led cultural changes by putting in place a results-driven organization with key performance and productivity measurement tools. Adja has held key executive positions within the insurance industry in Europe and Africa.

Her extensive experience in the insurance industry, in business transformation and in Africa will serve Jubilee Allianz well”, said Coenraad Vrolijk, Regional CEO of Allianz Africa.

Demba Sy joins the Board of Directors of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Limited, Kenya, while remaining the CEO of Allianz Insurance Company of Kenya Limited until the portfolio of the company is successfully transferred into Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Limited, Kenya. His leadership role thereafter will be announced in due course.

Philip Kimani, the current CFO of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Limited, Kenya, will be leaving the company at the end of May 2021 after three years of service to pursue other opportunities.

He will be succeeded by Isaac Adomako. Prior to his nomination, Isaac held key positions in Allianz Ghana for 9 years, first as Head of Audit then as Finance and Administration Director.

In his last role at Allianz Ghana, he was in charge of Finance, statutory matters and administrative related topics. He also worked with the local management team to develop a strong internal control system.

Before joining Allianz, Isaac worked as Finance Manager for a major financial institution and for a corporate bank as Reporting Manager in Ghana.

Amine El Kernighi, currently Regional Head of Agents at Allianz Africa, will take over as CEO of Allianz Senegal. His appointment will be effective on June 1, 2021

Amine began his career in the insurance sector in 2004 and he has held several positions in Loss Prevention, Risk Management and Internal Audit.

In 2012, he was appointed Chief Sales and Distribution Officer of an insurance company in Morocco that was later acquired by Allianz and drove the transformation and the growth strategy of the retail business of the entity until 2018. In 2019, he became Chief Transformation Officer of Allianz Maroc.

Amine has served as a non-executive Member of the board of Allianz Senegal since 2018.

Currently based in Casablanca, Amine will relocate to Dakar in due course.

All of the above-mentioned appointments are subject to obtaining relevant regulatory and corporate approvals.

“With these management changes, we aim to strengthen Allianz’s businesses on the continent and to accelerate the transformation of our entities to better deliver for our customers”, said the Regional CEO of Allianz Africa, Coenraad Vrolijk.
