Dele Oye, the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), has announced a strategic partnership with South Africa aimed at strengthening their ties and harnessing the collective economic potential of both nations.

During his visit to the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Thamsanqa Mseleku, in Abuja, Oye expressed his belief that this partnership would not only drive growth and prosperity within Nigeria and South Africa but also on the African continent as a whole.

Established in 1960, NACCIMA serves as the umbrella organization for various affiliated member chambers of commerce within Nigeria.

Oye’s visit was motivated by the desire to explore opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing, leveraging their diverse cultural and socioeconomic strengths.

He explained, “A sustained partnership between Nigeria and South Africa holds immense promise for both nations and the continent as a whole, which is the reason for this visit. We believe that by combining our resources, expertise, and innovation, we can unlock new opportunities for economic growth and development.”

The discussions during the meeting revolved around the establishment of strategic public-private partnerships that would promote innovation, technology transfer, and investment. Oye emphasized the instrumental role such partnerships play in catalyzing economic diversification, job creation, and industrialization.

Oye pointed out that both Nigeria and South Africa have the potential to become economic powerhouses on the continent. Despite their diverse cultural and socioeconomic differences, they share a common history of struggling against apartheid and colonialism. They also have a shared history of liberation movements that fought for the freedom and dignity of their people. Today, they stand as beacons of hope for the black race and Africa. Given this shared history and their status, it is crucial that they collaborate, share resources, and work toward the development of Africa.

He underscored that the visit signifies a strong desire to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between Nigeria and South Africa. This relationship has the potential to catalyze innovations and creativity among the youth and women and to lift people out of poverty through public-private partnerships. It could also serve as a litmus test for African unity and solidarity.

In conclusion, the visit between NACCIMA and South Africa represents a significant step toward building the resilience, prosperity, and connectivity of black African nations and fostering a prosperous future for the continent.
