Binance, a leading global blockchain and cryptocurrency infrastructure provider, has announced the integration of mobile money payments into its platform to enhance access to cryptocurrency across Africa. The service will initially roll out in several West and Central African countries, including Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Togo, and Senegal, allowing users to purchase cryptocurrency directly via mobile money.

This strategic move, powered by local partnerships, highlights Binance’s commitment to driving financial innovation and expanding cryptocurrency access on the continent. Speaking on the development, Samantha Fuller, Binance’s spokeswoman, emphasized the company’s goal of promoting financial inclusion through user-friendly digital solutions. “Our expansion into West and Central Africa represents a significant milestone in our mission to foster crypto adoption, providing millions with more direct access to the global digital economy,” she said.

The crypto-to-mobile money service currently supports BUY transactions only, making it easier for new users in the region to enter the cryptocurrency space. Binance users can follow a simple process on the app to add funds and purchase cryptocurrencies using local fiat currencies.

This initiative is part of Binance’s larger vision to democratize cryptocurrency access across Africa by leveraging the popularity of mobile money systems. By partnering with local mobile money operators and complying with regional regulations, Binance is positioning itself as a key player in financial inclusion across Africa, aiming to reach more users and potentially achieve important regulatory milestones in the process.
