Colombian fintech Plenti has raised $3 million in a seed funding round led by Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, with participation from Verda Ventures.
The fresh capital will be used to strengthen Plenti’s operations in Colombia and support its expansion into Peru and Bolivia as the fintech seeks to extend its multicurrency and investment services across Latin America.
Plenti currently has more than 150,000 active users and processes over $3.1 billion in annual transaction volume across its business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) operations.
Plenti expands multicurrency and investment offering
The fintech operates in the growing multicurrency accounts and retail investment segment, competing with platforms including ARQ, formerly known as DolarApp, Littio and Bitso.
Its platform provides international transaction services, yield on account balances of up to 8% EA, and fractional investment opportunities starting from $6.
Customers can invest in US exchange-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), as well as crypto assets, through the platform.
The combination of cross-border payments, multicurrency services and investment products positions Plenti to serve consumers and businesses seeking greater access to international financial markets.
Tether backs Latin American digital dollar growth
Tether’s investment comes as stablecoin-based financial services continue to gain traction across Latin America, where fluctuations in local currencies have increased demand for dollar-linked digital assets and alternative ways to store and move value.
Tether reported approximately $184.6 billion worth of USDT in circulation at the end of the second quarter of 2026, giving the stablecoin more than 60% of the global stablecoin market.
The investment in Plenti reflects the growing interest in fintech platforms using digital-dollar infrastructure to facilitate cross-border transactions and financial services in emerging markets.
Funding targets regional expansion
Plenti co-founder and CTO Martín Peláez said the investment would help the company improve the platform’s liquidity and security while accelerating its entry into additional Latin American markets.
“Having Tether come in now as an investor validates what we’ve built and lets us strengthen the platform’s liquidity and security to bring this model to more markets in Latin America,” Peláez said.
He added that the company’s fundraising strategy was focused less on scaling its existing Colombian operation and more on accelerating regional expansion.
“We raised $3 million for an operation that already moves more than $3.1 billion a year. We didn’t need capital to grow in Colombia, we raised it to accelerate and bring the model to new markets,” he said.
With Peru and Bolivia next on its expansion roadmap, Plenti is positioning its platform to capture growing demand for cross-border payments, digital-dollar products and accessible investment services across Latin America.
