HitPay has partnered with Visa Acceptance Solutions to expand affordable card payment acceptance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the Philippines, leveraging Visa’s Acceptance Platform to streamline both in-store and online transactions.
Under the collaboration, HitPay will provide merchants with access to a suite of digital payment tools—including EMV-certified card readers and tap-to-phone capabilities—designed to lower barriers for small businesses seeking to accept digital payments. The model eliminates the traditional need for direct bank contracting, a process often cited as cumbersome for micro and small merchants.
HitPay CEO, Aditya Haripurkar, said the initiative is aimed at making card acceptance more accessible and cost-effective for Filipino entrepreneurs.
“With our connection to the Visa Acceptance Platform, we are removing the friction and cost barriers that historically kept card acceptance out of reach for many Filipino merchants,” he noted. “This empowers them to compete more effectively and participate fully in the country’s rapidly growing digital economy.”
Kunal Chatterjee, Head of Acceptance Sales and Value-Added Services for Asia Pacific at Visa, added that the partnership reinforces Visa’s commitment to deepening financial inclusion across underserved segments.
“By working with partners like HitPay, Visa is bringing the benefits of our global acceptance network to local businesses in the Philippines,” he said.
Visa’s research indicates that merchants who accept card payments can experience up to an 83% increase in turnover, underscoring the economic impact of digital payment adoption for small businesses.
Following the Philippine rollout, HitPay and Visa plan to extend the partnership to additional markets across Southeast Asia as part of a broader effort to strengthen digital commerce infrastructure for SMEs.
