Emirates NBD expands cross-border payment network to over 40 countries

Emirates NBD has expanded its near real-time cross-border payment network, enabling customers to send funds to more than 40 countries across Europe, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong — delivering faster, more secure, and cost-efficient international transfers.

According to a statement by the bank, the enhanced service allows customers to make real-time money transfers seamlessly through the ENBD X Mobile Banking App or Online Banking, offering round-the-clock reliability, competitive exchange rates, and robust security backed by a trusted global infrastructure.

Yousuf Saeed Mohd, Group Head of Personal and Priority Banking and Retail Banking Sales at Emirates NBD, said the initiative reinforces the bank’s commitment to connecting people globally.

“By launching these new, near real-time remittance corridors, we are not just improving a service; we are strengthening vital connections between people and their loved ones across continents,” he said.

The initiative builds on the success of DirectRemit, Emirates NBD’s flagship cross-border transfer service launched in 2014. Initially supporting transfers to India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the UK, and Egypt, DirectRemit has since evolved to meet the needs of the UAE’s diverse expatriate population. The service facilitates remittances for family support, education, mortgage management, and cross-border investments — catering to over 80% of the expat community.

The expansion marks another milestone in Emirates NBD’s digital innovation strategy. Earlier, the bank’s securities arm — Emirates NBD Securities — extended its trading services to provide direct access to major GCC financial markets, further strengthening the group’s regional presence and commitment to empowering global connectivity through technology-driven financial solutions.
