Airtel Nigeria Unveils SmartConnect 5G Router to Boost Affordable Broadband Access

Airtel Nigeria has introduced the SmartConnect 5G Outdoor Unit (ODU) Router, a broadband solution designed to provide affordable, reliable, and high-speed internet access to households and businesses nationwide.

Priced at ₦25,000, the SmartConnect package includes a SIM card, free installation, and a complimentary 30-day unlimited data plan offering speeds of up to 50 Mbps. After the introductory period, customers can choose from flexible subscription options: ₦25,000 per month for unlimited 50 Mbps or ₦45,000 per month for unlimited 100 Mbps.

The router’s ODU design ensures stronger and more stable signals by being mounted outdoors, enabling seamless connectivity even in dense urban and peri-urban areas. It supports up to 64 devices simultaneously, offers nationwide access to Airtel’s 5G network with fallback to 4G LTE, and comes equipped with power backup lasting five to six hoursduring outages. Additional features include parental controls and usage management tools for responsible browsing.

Speaking on the launch, Dinesh Balsingh, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, said:
