The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has officially certified eTranzact International Plc as a key technology partner for the nationwide deployment of its electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) platform.
The approval underscores eTranzact’s growing role in Nigeria’s digital tax ecosystem, building on its earlier partnership with FIRS under the Tax Administration 2.0 initiative, which successfully introduced value-added tax (VAT) automation through secure API integration with banks.
The new system, branded as the Merchant Buyer Solution (MBS), is designed to standardize e-invoicing across business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), and business-to-government (B2G) transactions. By digitizing and unifying invoicing processes, the platform aims to enhance transparency, strengthen compliance, and improve efficiency in tax administration nationwide.
According to Mike Adoga, Acting Director of Tax Automation at FIRS, the project was developed in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to ensure only providers with the technical strength and infrastructure to deliver at scale were accredited.
Reinforcing this, Tayo Koleoso, Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of FIRS, noted that NITDA played a pivotal role in safeguarding data security and privacy. “NITDA’s oversight was critical in tightening cybersecurity and data protection on the platform, giving taxpayers confidence that their information is secure and the process transparent,” he said.
Commenting on the development, Niyi Toluwalope, MD/CEO of eTranzact International Plc, highlighted the significance of the recognition. “This approval affirms our vision to be the preferred integrated financial technology platform for merchants and consumers. For us, e-invoicing is not just about compliance—it is a catalyst for transforming business-government engagement by creating transparency, efficiency, and value for every stakeholder,” he stated.
The certification of eTranzact as a partner marks another milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward a fully digitized tax administration system, strengthening government revenue collection while simplifying compliance for businesses and individuals alike.
